This premiered tonight at Club Vivid (first vid, even! after the Joxer Dance), so finally finally I get to share it with you!

Title: Starships!
Music: Nicki Minaj
Fandoms: *deep breath* 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien/Aliens, Apollo 13, Archer, Battlestar Galactica (2004-8), Cocoon, Community, Doctor Who (2005-), Dune, Farscape, The Fifth Element, Firefly/Serenity, Forbidden Planet, Futurama, Galaxy Quest, Independence Day, The Muppet Show, Odyssey 5, Planet of the Apes (1968), Spaceballs, Star Trek (TOS, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager; movies II, IV, VII, VIII and XI/Reboot), Star Wars IV & V, Stargate: Atlantis, Stargate SG-1, Sunshine, Superman (1978), Toy Story 2, Virtuality, WALL-E.
Length: 3:36
Summary: A celebration of pilots, captains, engineers, crew members, and the spacecraft they love to fly. (And race, and crash, and fix, and play in, and fight in, and...)
Rating/Contents: PG-13 for sci fi action, swear words and makeouts. *Physical note for camera movement (shaking, spinning, tilting), flashing lights and some fast-cut sequences. I don't believe there are any other content issues, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
Spoilers: There... actually might not be any. Cool.

This was fabulous. I loved all of it, but I laughed hardest at the "Piiiiiiigs in Spaaaaace" cameo.
Hee. I was glad to have found a good clip on YouTube so that could make it into the vid. Thanks!
RIGHT IN THE SPACE FEELINGS. I love the timing, the motion, and above all else the joy of this vid - I thought there was no more room for my space feelings to grow after Curiosity's landing, but this vid proved me wrong!
So glad to hear it! As someone else said, the timing on this couldn't have turned out better, really, with Curiosity last week.
Wow. This is freaking awesome! And managing to make it in that short amount of time is just amazing. I now need to go watch it another hundred times.
Hee. Thanks! I'm glad you liked it that much.
This was fantastic. The editing and sense of motion throughout was just wonderful. I might have gotten a little misty-eyed. I'm going to be rewatching this a LOT.
Thank you so much. That is great to hear.
Stunning and such good FUN - toe tapped and grinned my way through it. Definitely goes in the rewatch-many-times pile.
Hooray! Thanks very much.
this was fun and I just giggled when I saw the Archer bits.
Heh, yes, that episode had aired recently and I couldn't help but squeeze it in.
This was absolutely lovely! Thank you for such a wonderful reminder of how much the possibility, however limited, of space travel has changed our dreams. I'm just sorry that Jules Verne isn't here to watch.

making sure this wasn't an "all white guys, all the time" show.
This. As someone who lives in a world which is not quite "all white guys" because there's no hard science without Asians,I noticed it and was incredibly thankful. Because I knew you must have gone out of your way to do some little affirmative action out there: in the best sense of the word, i.e., choosing something high quality and fitting but requiring just a bit more research, a bit less laziness.

Final kiss goes, of course, to Miss Piggy.
Thanks much. The vid is still very much limited in that it's all English-language Western source and mostly modern, but I'm glad at least the bit of diversity in the characters depicted worked for you.
This is absolutely delightful and I love it. Brilliant job!
Thank you very much!
AWESOME O.O

Holy... This is my new most favorite thing. *rewatches forever*
Hee. Thanks—so great to hear you liked it so much.

\o/ Me too! Hee, obviously. Thank you very much.
So much fun and energy, love it.
Thanks! It got people talking fondly about "Space Girl" as well.
This is really fun. I really liked how you found all these visual links, the same themes, in all of these sources.
Thanks much. Many of them didn't reveal themselves until I started clipping, like the spinning, the sunshine, all the pilots' twisting in their seats to mirror their ships, a series of cigar/smoking shots that didn't end up making it in. It was fun to put together.
Cool! When you first mentioned the song I googled it and wasn't that enamoured of it, but I love the sheer multifandom joy of the vid. Because I tend not to read notes, the more unusual ones - Pigs in Space, Wall-E, Toy Story were particuarly fun surprises :)
Hooray! Yeah, some of those sources were just fun to sneak in; Wall-E I knew needed to be there from the beginning. Also, it's been interesting to hear some people say that the song didn't/doesn't make an impression on them until/unless it's paired with the clips. Glad you enjoyed this anyway!
BEST SciFi vid EVER!!!
OMG, it's just incredible! Yes, of course, there could be more sources, but what a h... you can't use them all anyway. So this is just perfect as it is!!!
Amazing editing! You now my #1 vidder of all time. Low bow to you! And big THANK YOU for making my day, month and year!
Wow, thank you very much. I'm so glad to hear this made such an impression. Also, you know, pretty much just YAY SPACE.
this was absolutely fucking fantastic. :)
Awesome! Thank you.
